Inside the network

🔺What we’re watching: Eclipse, a gaming focused platform, announced its launch of its gaming layer-1 (L1) blockchain built on the Avalanche network. The chain, not to be confused with the Ethereum and Solana-centric layer-2 blockchain Eclipse, aims to create a unified multi-game and project ecosystem. 

🔺Why it matters: Eclipse aims to merge the web2 and web3 gaming experience by providing a unified platform where players can enjoy familiar gaming experiences with blockchain technology and functionality.

The chain contains features like GameLoop, a game discoverability tool, and Eclipse Deck, a marketplace for games and in-game assets. These integrations can help foster growth across different gaming communities, as well as provide a potential revenue stream for users who trade their assets.

Interoperability could evolve from being a premium feature to a necessity across a number of sectors. And Eclipse aims to amplify that in gaming by providing diverse and personalized experiences across different blockchains. These innovations can cater to both web2 and web3 gamers, driving more users and optionality on the Eclipse blockchain.

Eclipse blockchain’s interoperability technology also aims to boost user interaction by rewarding social media activity, something that is a vital aspect in the web3 gaming ecosystem.

🔺The bigger picture: There’s a lot of web3 gaming studios that are trying to change and evolve game play for users. Eclipse’s launch is a part of a bigger web3 gaming trend, but also speaks to Avalanche gaming ecosystem and technology as a place that startups and builders alike choose to build on. 

This initiative can drive blockchain adoption across various gaming sectors, something that has been a trend of creating exclusive value for both web2 and web3 gamers alike.

As more protocols and games join the Eclipse ecosystem, the potential for an interconnected blockchain gaming community increases.
