Chainlink ETF Goes Live

It’s been almost two years since the first bitcoin spot ETF was launched in the U.S, and the domestic institutional crypto market has only continued to grow. The latest to follow that path is Grayscale’s Chainlink Trust ETF, which started trading on December 2.

With about $15.6 million in assets under management, the ETF is a conversion of the existing Grayscale Chainlink Trust, and provides regulated exposure to LINK through traditional brokerage accounts and retirement plans, in addition to staking rewards.

Separately, Bitwise filed to list the first spot Chainlink (LINK) ETF, the Bitwise Chainlink ETF, in the U.S. in early November.

That ETF was listed on the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation under “active” and “pre-launch” status. While DTCC listing does not guarantee SEC approval or an immediate launch, it is widely regarded as one of the final administrative steps before an ETF is traded.

These developments follow a now-familiar pattern observed with other alternative cryptocurrency ETFs launched in 2025:

• The first spot Solana ETFs began trading in October 2025 in the U.S.. Within the first month, combined asset value across multiple issuers exceeded $700 million.

• Multiple spot XRP ETFs launched in November 2025. The first product, Canary Capital’s XRP ETF, saw volumes of $59 million on its first day of trading.

In both cases, the introduction of regulated ETFs contributed to increased liquidity, higher AUMs for traditional investors, and reduced perceived regulatory risk for the underlying asset

For Chainlink, the launch of this ETF positions LINK as an investable infrastructure asset on the public markets. This, in turn, gives financial advisors, institutions, and retail investors the chance to gain exposure through existing equity accounts, eliminating the need to maintain custody of cryptocurrency directly.

Expanding The Ecosystem

• Monad launched the token for its layer-1 blockchain using Chainlink’s CCIP, Data Feeds and Price Feeds, enabling cross-chain transfer and data aggregation

• Mind Network detailed how it is leveraging Chainlink to tackle confidential computing using Fully Homomorphic Encryption

• PlanetIX used Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to make the token for its web3 strategy game transferable across Polygon and Base

• Ducat integrated CRE to power its bitcoin-native oracle for aggregated price data

• THENA implemented CRE to enable verifiable data, interoperability, privacy and compliance for its AI-powered trading layer

• Ampli integrated CRE to reduce points of failure and number of attract vectors for its AI agentic validators

• Holdstation’s token now uses Chainlink CCIP to bake in cross-chain transfers across BNB Chain and ZKsync

• Transporter used Chainlink CCIP to enable transfers for Circle’s USDC to and from Solana

• Bedrock upgraded its uniBTC using Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve, Secure Mint, CCIP, and Price Feeds to directly embed decentralized safeguards in the minting process

Day 1 of SmartCon 2025

Chainlink CEO Sergey Nazarov on bringing institutions onchain

At this year’s SmartCon, Chainlink co-founder and CEO Sergey Nazarov spoke about how the company is building the foundation to connect traditional finance and DeFi. The goal: make it easy and compliant for institutions and individuals to transact together on the blockchain.

Solving for trust and compliance

Nazarov highlighted one of the biggest hurdles in crypto: trust and verification. Institutions can’t move onchain unless they know assets are fully backed and compliant.

That’s where Secure Mint and Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) come in. Secure Mint only allows new stablecoins to be created if onchain proof of reserves confirms the backing exists. CCIP ensures that all compliance checks and transfers follow the same rules across chains.

Together, they create a trust layer for digital assets, giving banks and businesses the same confidence they have in traditional systems.

Real traction

Nazarov also highlighted recent milestones Chainlink has achieved that prove real world adoption. UBS used Chainlink’s Digital Transfer Agent (DTA) standard to tokenize one of its money market funds, completing the first fully onchain subscription and redemption.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Brazil and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority are testing CCIP to exchange stablecoins across blockchains, which is a major step toward global interoperability.

Together, these use cases show how Chainlink’s infrastructure can turn traditional assets into tokenized, programmable versions that settle faster and operate 24/7.

The next step: data and privacy

Later in the keynote, Nazarov announced DataLink and Confidential Compute, two new tools aimed at bringing institutional data and privacy onchain.

DataLink lets major providers like S&P Global and FTSE Russell securely publish real-world financial data for developers to use in DeFi apps. Confidential Compute introduces privacy-preserving smart contracts, allowing sensitive workflows to remain secure and verifiable.

“The next generation of capital markets won’t be built on isolated systems,” Nazarov said. “It’ll be built on networks that everyone can trust, verify and use together.”

In its latest step to bridge web3’s gap with the global financial system Chainlink announced a number of new products at Sibos 2025, while its co-founder Sergey Nazarov spoke on panels with industry leaders about the future of digital markets.

Sibos is a financial services event hosted by Swift that’s attended by heavyweights from the banking, asset management, and payment infrastructure industries. At this event, Chainlink showcased how it is working on improving blockchain integration for real-world use cases, tokenization of assets, and data standards for interoperability. Below are some highlights from the event:

Global corporate actions initiative

Chainlink partnered with 24 financial institutions and infrastructure providers, including Swift, DTCC, Euroclear, UBS, DBS Bank, BNP Paribas, and ANZ to put together new infrastructure for processing corporate actions. Using Chainlink’s oracle platform, the system will create unified records for standardized data validation and delivery across both onchain and traditional systems. This builds on Chainlink’s Phase 1 proof-of-concept, which aims to improve production efficiency and reduce processing times.

Tokenized fund workflows with Swift and UBS

Chainlink is enabling banks and institutions to manage tokenized fund subscriptions and redemptions by using Swift’s ISO 20022 messaging together with the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE). This lets institutions access blockchains without having to change their existing systems or upgrade their infrastructure. This functionality was built on top of Chainlink’s work in Project Guardian for offchain cash settlements.

DataLink for institutional-grade data publishing

DataLink allows institutions to publish market data onchain using their existing systems. Designed for the tokenized RWA market, it unlocks new revenue streams for data providers, and facilitates developers by giving them access to secure, institutional-grade data.

• Chainlink won the Swift Hackathon 2025 Business Challenge, beating 104 applicants

• The protocol launched the Digital Transfer Agent technical standard, which define how agents and fund administrators can bring their operations onchain and support tokenized assets

• Morpheus integrated Chainlink Price Feeds to its AI agent marketplace across various Ether markets

• LlamaRisk, Chainlink and Aave Labs collaborated to implement NAV feeds on the Aave Horizon lending platform

• Aptos leveraged Chainlink’s CCIP to enable cross-chain transfers across its ecosystem, with support for Aave’s GHO stablecoin

• World Chain adopted Chainlink’s CCIP and CCT standards to offer cross-chain transfer support for its WLD token

• Solstice Finance leveraged Chainlink to add cross-chain settlement functionality to its synthetic stablecoin protocol

• Canton Network collaborated with Chainlink to integrate Data Streams, SmartData (Proof of Reserve, NAVLink) and CCIP to its network

• 0G leveraged Chainlink CCIP for cross-chain token transfers

• Bluprynt integrated Chainlink’s Automated Compliance Engine to its suite of digital assets for issuers and regulators

• SOOHO.IO launched Project Namsan, an initiative that aims to advance Korean won stablecoins, in collaboration with Chainlink

Inside the LINK

Last month, Chainlink launched its Chainlink Reserve, a strategic onchain treasury designed for the acquisition of LINK tokens. Since then, the reserve has increased its total holdings 300% to about 193,100 LINK tokens, or $4.4 million via offchain and onchain revenue. 

Throughout the month of August, Chainlink has made weekly purchases of LINK tokens on:

• August 7: 65,543 LINK

• August 14: 44,110 LINK

• August 21: 44,106 LINK

• August 28: 42,298 LINK

According to LINK’s price movement, these purchases each brought in at least $1 million. 

Based on this data, we can expect Chainlink’s next purchase to occur on September 4, 2025 and assume its total holdings will increase by at least $1 million. According to current prices, this would mean the reserve would acquire around 43,000 more LINK, bringing it over 200,000 tokens in total. 

Collectively, its previous LINK acquisitions and expected future ones exhibit Chainlink’s commitment to building an onchain economy where it stands at the forefront of infrastructure standards. 

Since this initiative is funded through offchain and onchain revenue, it means money coming into the network is being used in a productive way such as for long-term growth and sustainability. Instead of sitting idle or being funneled into incentives that may be short-term minded, LINK tokens are being reinvested into strengthening the ecosystem. 

In turn, this creates a flywheel effect where as more capital flows into the network, it results in improvements for infrastructure, user experience and ecosystem development, thus driving greater participation. That increased participation then fuels additional onchain activity and offchain opportunities, generating more revenue that can be cycled back into growth. 

Looking ahead, this compounding loop positions the network to scale sustainably, while reinforcing the reserve’s long-term value proposition.

Expanding the ecosystem

• US Department of Commerce collaborated with Chainlink to integrate macroeconomic data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis into Chainlink Data Feeds so these metrics can be distributed onchain

• PublicAI adopted the Chainlink Runtime Environment to provide AI-powered prediction markets and onchain reputation systems access to verified human data

• World Liberty Financial governance token WLFI integrated Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token standard for support across Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain

• Solv Protocol embedded Chainlink Proof of Reserve to its Secure Exchange Rate for verifiable bitcoin reserve data

• Aave’s institutional initiative, Aave Horizon, adopted Chainlink SmartData to enable institutional investors to borrow against tokenized RWAs

• Chainlink partnered with SBI Group, a Japanese financial conglomerate with over $200B in AUM, to develop payment versus payment solutions for foreign exchange and cross-border transactions in the APAC region

Say Hello to the Chainlink Reserve

For many networks, there’s a question of how to build long term value. Some focus on new initiatives, product launches or community engagement. Others focus on all those areas, and then some. 

Chainlink is a decentralized blockchain oracle network that connects more than 60 chains to real-world data, governments and enterprise systems. It has enabled tens of trillions in transaction volume across the ecosystem. But on the front of revenue, Chainlink is changing its strategy.

Chainlink Reserve is a new upgrade centered on the creation of a strategic onchain reserve of LINK tokens. It will initially be funded through offchain and onchain revenue. This means money coming into the network can be used to support its long-term growth and sustainability, via LINK tokens. 

Through Payment Abstraction, Chainlink will convert any revenue into LINK, reducing the payment friction for any provider. This means a large enterprise can pay in whatever currency they’d like on the network and it’ll be converted on the backend into LINK. 

Chainlink’s Payment Abstraction infrastructure originally launched in late March, but has now been upgraded to cover additional categories for revenue and facilitate automated operations. This includes areas like cross-chain interoperability protocol (CCIP) and price feeds.

Chainlink’s users and integrations span across dozens of entities including crypto-native ones like Aave, Jupiter, Compound, Lido and Euler to traditional financial entities like Swift, UBS and Mastercard.

To date, Chainlink has “created hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue,” the team shared with Token Relations. A lot of it derived from large enterprises that paid offchain for access to Chainlink Platform. 

“With increasing demand from a number of the world’s largest banking and capital markets institutions, this form of paying for the Chainlink standard is expected to grow into the future as the industry grows,” the team stated. 

To start, the reserve accumulated over $1 million worth of LINK in its early stage launch phase. That holding is expected to “gradually grow” as more existing revenue is converted into the token and put into the reserve. 

Similar to other strategic treasuries, the team shared there are no nearterm plans to withdraw capital from the reserve. The reserve also builds off the network’s existing economic pillars for building a stronger onchain economy with user fee growth and operating cost reductions, among other aspects.

“The introduction of the Chainlink Reserve supports Chainlink adoption across DeFi and TradFi, and establishes Chainlink as the infrastructure standard for mass adoption of tokenized assets,” the team stated. 

All in, this is opening the door for new economic upgrades to the Chainlink platform, LINK holders and a way to put existing and new revenue to work through the reserve.
